Day 1: Addis Ababa ✈️ Fly to Jinka – Explore Key Afer Market & Hamar Tribe

Upon arrival at Jinka Airport, you’ll be warmly welcomed by the team. Begin your cultural immersion with a scenic drive to Key Afer Market (market days: Thursdays), a lively hub where the Benna, Hamar, Tsemay, and Mena tribes gather to trade and socialize. Continue your journey to Turmi, the heartland of the Hamar people, known for their intricate hairstyles, body adornments, and bull-jumping ceremonies. Overnight at hotel/lodge.

Day 2: Omorate Excursion – Dassanech Tribe | Return via Key Afer to Jinka
After breakfast, set off on a 2-hour drive to Omorate, near the Omo River, to visit the Dassanech tribe – also known as the “People of the Delta.” These pastoralists and agro-fishers live along the northern shores of Lake Turkana and are known for their distinctive hairstyles and traditional body scarification.
Return to Turmi for lunch, then journey back to Jinka, stopping en route to revisit Key Afer if market day aligns or to enjoy scenic cultural stops. In Jinka, visit the Ari tribe, the region’s largest ethnic group, known for their banana-fiber skirts, traditional pottery, and ironwork. Overnight in Jinka.
Day 3: Mago National Park – Visit the Mursi Tribe | Departure
